Automotive
Automotive vehicles must be registered and titled in order to become road legal. Start by transferring the title under the name of the current vehicle owner and updating the information at a local tag office. OATA makes this easy for Florida and Alabama dealers by giving them multiple options for registering sold vehicles to their new owners.
If it’s a Cash Deal
With the proper paperwork, dealers can register vehicles on behalf of customers. Once the title has been transferred, the customer owns the vehicle and handles any further action made to the vehicle’s title.
If There’s an Auto Loan
If the vehicle still has a balance due to the dealer or another lender, a lien will be present on the title for the tax collector’s office to recognize that the vehicle still belongs to the dealer or lender until it’s paid off in total.
Paid Off Titles
Once a vehicle is completely paid off, the lien is removed and the customer has access to that vehicle’s title. Any vehicle not registered in their state is identified as stolen and will be removed from the road immediately by the authorities.
